About this swimming hole
At the bottom of the steep Bob Bear Trail, Fossil Springs erupts from the canyon wall at 20,000 gallons a minute, feeding jade pools in an old-growth riparian grove. The 4-mile descent is strenuous and the climb out is worse, but the spring complex feels like a lost world. A backcountry permit is required to hike here.
