About this swimming hole
Lake Absegami's guarded beach is New Jersey's first state forest's classic swim, on the eastern shore of the 67-acre cedar lake. The swim area reopened in July 2024 after a multi-year capital-improvement closure, with a renovated bathhouse and lifeguard room. Swimming is allowed while lifeguards are on duty, recently scheduled Wednesday through Sunday.
