About this swimming hole
Orchard Beach is the Bronx’s only public beach, a 1.1-mile crescent of sand on Long Island Sound with the landmark 1930s bathhouse pavilion. City beaches run Memorial Day weekend through the Sunday after Labor Day with lifeguards 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; swimming is prohibited without lifeguards or in closed sections. Admission is free.
