The Rondout Creek's famous Blue Hole is a deep, startlingly blue pool beneath Peekamoose Mountain in the Sundown Wild Forest. DEC requires a $10 day-use permit for all visitors seven days a week from May 15 through September 15, reserved through ReserveAmerica at least 24 hours and no more than a week ahead, with a five-person maximum per permit. No alcohol, glass, or coolers larger than 12 inches are allowed; parking is restricted to designated lots and roadside parking is a tow-away zone.
